PROCESS

PROCESS

listening + observation

We approach each project with humility, and start by listening and observing.

collaboration

Our clients are collaborators. We work with them to establish project objectives, and throughout design and construction - to ensure objectives are being met.

balance

Every design decision warrants consideration of many factors, including: aesthetics, durability, budget, maintenance, and environmental footprint.

The best design solutions satisfy all project criteria. A high-performing, energy-efficient project should also be beautiful, functional, and budget appropriate.

simplicity

The simplest solution is the best...and usually, the most elegant.

every project is unique

2021.10 Nico.jpg

Nicolas Carcelen

Nico brings many years of experience as a project manager and senior designer to Ridge Architecture. The first half of his career was in the public sector, overseeing large-scale community design projects.

More recently, he has specialized in commercial design, including corporate, hospitality, and education projects.

He holds a B.Arch (P.U.C. Ecuador) and Master of Science in Sustainable Architecture (T.U. Darmstadt). He loves making - and admiring! - beautiful objects, including bicycles, furniture, a custom fence, and experimental, geometric ceramics.

Oh, and games? All soccer and chess, all strategy, all the time.

Cameron Cole Carcelen, AIA

As the daughter of a builder, Cameron grew up around construction sites and loves the magic of turning building systems into a home. Her practice is about finding beauty in the technical and the functional. She's as excited by poetic design as by building science, energy efficiency, thermal envelope assemblies, and construction details.

Her Master of Architecture & Certificate of Ecological Design are from the University of Oregon, her B.A. is from N.Y.U., and she's a licensed architect in Connecticut and New York. She worked at Amanda Martocchio Architecture prior to opening Ridge Architecture.

When not in the studio, she's usually tinkering in her garden, paddle boarding, or working on an imaginative project with her kids.
